Susan Keating Glaspell (1876–1948) was born in Iowa, USA, and became a foundational figure in modern American theater as a playwright, novelist, and journalist. She deeply explored the social status and oppression of women in the early 20th century, as well as themes of justice, ethics, and the complexities of human psychology, earning recognition as a pioneer of feminist literature. Her best-known work, "Trifles" (1916), is based on a real-life case and sheds light on female solidarity and the meaning of silence, remaining a classic of American drama even today. Glaspell received the Pulitzer Prize in 1931 and left behind over fifty short stories, nine novels, and fifteen plays.
